Remember, guys, this is TELEVISION you are discussing! It is NOT reality!
There is NO WAY on this PLANET that Tiff could have stayed ON THE SAME LAP as Jason if it WAS his first time in a kart! Any of us who HAVE watched 'racers' take their first drive in a kart will know quite how USELESS they ARE at it! Their reaction times are usualy 'attuned' VASTLY too low! They simply don't have a CLUE about our braking points or our cornering speeds!
I watched John Watson (when he was driving for McLaren) take out a kart at Rye for the first time when he was presenting the prizes at the British Championship. He spun THREE TIMES in the FIRST LAP! He gave up after that lap stating 'those things are beyond me!'!
That was NOT Tiff's first drive of a kart, either, as I RACED against him in an endurance race many years ago.....
YES.... it made good TV but it was an ACT and stage managed EXACTLY like everything on Top Gear is too!
Those Top Gear 'races'!!!! I ask you!
Next time you watch a Top Gear 'Clarkson versus May/Hammond', just ask yourself how they FILMED the 'race' without the film crew WITH them! If the film crew was NOT in the car with Clarkson (e.g., the Veyron/Plane race across Europe), who the HELL filmed him at each of the 'petrol stations'...... or do you think the 'crew car' crossed Europe at the same speed as the Veyron........? If that WAS the case, then it wasn't 'Veyron versus Plane', it was 'Battered Mondeo full of techies versus Plane'.......! Or do you think they have 20 film crews with a different one waiting at the places where Clarkson stops............?
It's TV! It is NOT reality!
