Tyres will grip according to several criteria, the most basic of which is compound.
Essentially hard compound tyres need to be got hotter than soft compound tyres and because of this, if you have a track that gives a lot of grip, then a hard compound tyre will last longer.
However cadets have a hard mixture anyway, or at least, at the weight and speeds of cadet karts it acts as a hard mixture.
The next important thing is teh way you drive. If you watch MotoGP you wil see that drivers fit differing tyres to their machines to best the combination that works best for them. Since you don't have teh luxury of differing compounds, note that the way you drive makes a difference.
The next biggest killer of tyres is daylight. The manufacturers say that it does more damage than heat cycles, unless you drastically overheat the tyres. So, don't leave the tyres in the sun (UV light, which means don't leave the kart in the sun all day either) don't leave them out of the bag (you have tyre bags?) and keep them like mushrooms. Cool, dark and 'moist'. Drying them out in the heating cupboard isn't meant to be good for them either.
Tyres also age. The chemicals that keeps them soft and pliable dry out of them.
Does that help?
