Let's be precise, here. When I saw these in Germany last year, they were ONLY compulsory for the cadets and below.
It's FINE for us lot (oldies!) to risk our necks but I CAN see an argument for using better protection for those who really ARE too young to make a decison about safety.
They look as though they WOULD support a cadet chassis upside down at 'cadet speeds'. A 250 GBox is QUITE a different kettle of fish!
I unserstand the argument about a 'slippery slope' but we are far too far down that slope already.... it all started with (my hated) side pods and nose cones. It's no good shouting 'we don't need big plastic seats' when we already HAVE tupperware all OVER the kart! Trust me.... to a purist.... the tall seat looks no LESS daft than the REST of the plastic trash!
