Remember both racers and scrutineers have to play by the same rules! Read the Blue Book and carry one with you ready to show him where there is NO MENTION of any years, only certification!
I won't quote any exact paragraphs as I don't want to misslead not yet being in possession of the 2009 Book but you should be able to find it easily.
Go prepared for any eventuality, but I personally think it was a one off!

I know of one circuit where scrutineers have outlawed Level1 suits at their meetings, for reasons unknown to anyone. Shame it is too far from myself, I'd have loved to go and make them show where it is specified in the book it isn't legal, or ban a racing apparel trader from taking part in a meeting with perfectly legal kit! LOL
