I was involved with the initial meetings about this seat at the FIA. I don't think they are safer. If you see the video's of crashes involving the high seat the kart keeps rolling like a ball 6 or 7 times until it hits the fence. The test showing the rollover in slow motion using a dummy shows the driver hitting the floor and the headrest following up like a battering ram, hitting the floor right by the driver�s neck. It is one of those occasions where they have gone so far down the road they want it to come in whether it is right or wrong. I believe it is wrong. I could earn money out of this rule but I do not think it is right for karting. Keep the weight of the karts down, make the track barriers safe, this will do far more for safety.
