However, never trust computed long/lat-accelerations from gps systems. Having used much more expensive gps kits (i.e VBOX III racelogic) in direct comparison to accelerometers they miss by about 10-15% at best.
The reason i would only select the Mychron is the lap overplotting/comparison facility that helps explore different lines and the real time(?) split time display which helps you (the driver) see what worked in the very last corner or what didn't, something that the Pi doesn't implement and works as a classic motorsport DL system.
Mytach watch is the simplest utilisation of gps technology in racing and to be fair, although i'm sure it works as claimed, I wouldn't spend my money on it as i am interested in a more comprehensive system that will allow me to monitor engine, chassis and of course my performance.
