Sorry about the speedway ploy. I have absolutely nothing against it, honestly.
Andrew and I were talking about why speedway attracts such a strong spectator gathering whilst trying to drive OUT of Rye house on Friday night, when the masses were trying to get IN!
You're right, the very reason is because they have a team to follow.
HKC attempted to do this by oragnising a southern championship but total apathy seems to be the order of the day from other clubs.
You would have thought that a club would welcome more drivers on their grids, obviously they are content to dwindle slowly, fine!
I just think it's typical of the good old British trait of waiting till the walls fall in before acknowledging that something might just be amiss.
Harry is more than up for running a drivers association but is somewhat perplexed at how it could operate by just covering his Whiskas dinners during any trips.
What about phone calls, stationery, maybe solicitors. you can't do all that on a threepenny bit.
AND THAT my friends is exactly what the present people who 'run' karting are banking on, your apathy and reluctance put your hand in your shallow pockets and get organised.
