I heard about this " O " ring for the clutch last month at the Euro's so it looks as though it works ? The scruts here were worried it may split/perish but of course until they/we had chance to see/use it no-one can really comment.
At Whilton last weekend they stated that anyone caught with oil/grease/deposit on the rear of their clutch drum then they'd be excluded....(yea, yea, we all know about the ABkC statement but the COC was adamant that the club would firmly fight any appeal?!!)
So we approached the scruts, we offered to strip, clean, let THEM grease the bearing accordingly, then assemble AND get them to "paint" the hex nut to confirm "sealed", they glady obliged and we raced all day without taking the drum off once.....
We won the final, gained fastest lap and back in scrutineering all clutch drums off....
There was a line of grease around the inside of the drum, deemed acceptable by the scruts (after all they had greased and sealed it), not sure if it would have been acceptable had they NOT done it themselves.....
So lets hope this "O" ring solves the problem !
