A month ago I was one of those saying I would always run my son with a neck brace. Then during a test day we ran without it and he found time and was jubilantly more mobile and comfortable in the kart.
In France they are obligatory in all classes, one area where the French are ahead of the game. Of course the firm evidence is sketchy for it preventing problems, plenty of anecdotal stuff though. Haven't heard anyone with any convincing argument for them causing injury though. Only the same old stuff that the anti-helmets on bikes brigade churned out.
But now we know wearing his foam neck brace is disadvantaging him in terms of racing. The level he's at, it could be the difference between winning a race and finishing mid-field. A nightmare dilemma for a Karting parent. So to the Leatts.
This would seem to be the best compromise, I've read the arguments for and against. Any views on this?
Anyway, I've got a lid that expires at the end of the year, so it would seem sensible to look for a new one with compatibility with a Leatts system, any suggestions?
