Hi Paul,
my son races in Honda Cadet, im trying to run him on a tight budged this year (2000)...just to see if its possible...so far we have spent just over 1000 this season including race entries and a spare engine (RPM engine 130 from ebay)...we have been fortunate not to have many repairs this year so far.
costs got well out of hand last year..i kept spending money on stuff i didnt need. Although we are not challenging for wins we are having great fun, and i get to spend all weekend with my son watching him do something he loves.
think i spent about 4500 in our first season, but that included buying the kart, trailer, tools, helmet suit n stuff.
i would reccomend seeing how big the grids are in your local area, when we started comer had the biggest grid, but the honda grid has grown and is now bigger at our track (only 1 comer at the weekend). Honda engines are very low maintainance and low cost.
hope this helps.
Gordon.
