Been given a 20 litre capacity ultrasonic cleaning bath, with heater, timer, and tray ! Also have 5 litres of concentrated heavy duty ultrasonic liquid.

Never used one before but seen these mentioned from time to time on here. Can anyone advise:
1-how good these are for parts cleaning ?
2-do I just dilute the liquid with water and pop in the bits needing cleaning into the tray once the liquid has heated and for a prescibed time ?
3-want to clean various engine components including cylinders, heads and carbs etc, also maybe other bits such as grubby nylon/plastic parts, bearings, hubs etc - is it good for all these ?
4-do I need to pre-clean general muck off first ?
5-do parts come out super-clean or with some stains still there, will I need to brush muck off ?
6-any likely harm to parts, especially if re-done a few times ?
