Rodgers, I think people on this thread are trying to help here with info on a different question to the one you asked. Unless something else has changed and I missed it (quite possible!) this is my understanding - no helmet with a blue BS standard will be Ok for MSA karting next year. Full stop. So bottom line you need a new one no question. As a minimum the new one needs to be Snell approved (different sticker - inside the helmet) for karting (known as SA - special application) Higher level car helmets with the right Snell sticker are also Ok. Here's where it gets a bit more confusing - there is a new Snell issue every 5 years, and it lasts for 10 years, so Snell 2000 should expire this year, Snell 2005 in 2015, and Snell 2010 (not out yet) in 2020. However, there is some uncertainty about allowing SA2000 helmets to continue for a year until the CMR (kids helmet standards) are better establshed, so Dads don't have to but a new helmet now, then another in a year for CMR. Hope this helps.
