My son did it in 2006 and 2007. The atmosphere at Llandow in 06 was very good and the locals turned out in good numbers.
By comparison the 2007 event held at Warden Law was the opposite. If it wasn't for the team suits you might have mistaken it for a regular meeting! And it wasn't helped by one of the team threatening to withdraw over the driving standards of another country resulting in the points getting reset to zero for the Sunday making Saturday pointless (sorry - no pun intended).
I think it didn't happen this year because of the perceived apathy of all those concerned except the respective countries/captains who put a lot of effort it.
As for the cost, we paid for 1 England Race Suit on both occasions and you got thrown in a t-shirt, cap, bag. But to be honest still expensive - best part of �200. On top of that we had the usual costs as in tyres, accommodation and because I don't spanner, our normal mechanic who looked after James.
So not quite the �2k but a fair whack particularly if someone said one of the other countries got subsidised. But glad we did it though.
