As parents we have a responsibility to our children, in karting we kit our children out with neck braces, expensive helmets, rib protectors, safe boots etc, yet the advantage of a little bit of extra speed is more important than them getting injured.... it's a no brainer to me! Martin Hines advocated starting the Cadet class as it was another market for him, he was on the MSA Kart Committee at the time. My father who was also on the Committee was extremely concerned about the safety issues involved with kids starting as young as 8, those issues weren't answered, it was all about selling more karts! My dad resigned over this. Zip didn't care then and it looks like they don't care now. We made the decision to buy Intrepid, yet we are faced with a grid of Zips! Health & Safety is paramount, we are talking about kids doing ridiculous speeds for their age, we must make it as safe as possible or we are failing as parents.
