John, you make a valid point about the effect of having too squared noses impacting and this was discussed with the FIA's Andrew Mellor at the meeting we had (see our earlier posts on the subject). Richydehav has pointed out the issue in that if the current nose is banned and the MSA recommend the use of an alternative and it doesn't work or is worse then they open themselves up to litigation.
Despite the efforts of many and I commend the petition, I doubt if we'll see the nose banned for 2010 and it will remain the parents responsibilty to make the change. We have, but we have no data on what would happen if 2 such noses were in a head-on collision and it was suggested that at speed one would give - crash test scenarios are the only way the MSA can go to provide a duty of care for their young competitors for a new homologation.
