the 'experiment' i listed was carried out on 25mm solid axles. I haven't the results to hand but there is a difference in stiffness between hard, standard and soft 25mm axles. The hard axle I tested was made from EN16T this has a youngs modulus of over double the standard EN8 so needed twice the force to get the same deflection. The soft axle was made from EN5 which has a slightly lower modulus and needed a little less force for same deflection. These were Cadet axles and did make a difference!! EN16T stiffens the chassis at the rear reducing inside wheel lift at corner entry and creates more downward force on the rear tyres creating more side bite mid corner, both of these factors in my experience cause understeer. The soft axle didn't really make a lot difference.
