This is complete rubbish.

Participation into the grand finals is by invitation, and as far as I know all the drivers had entered for at least one round of the qualifiers as required by the rules. Indeed several drivers who asked to take part were refused an invitation this year because they had not entered any of the previous rounds.

Secondly, one scores default points for each qualifying round not done, which makes it very difficult if not impossible to walk off with the title on the basis of entering the Grande Final having only done one round, let alone not having competed at all.

Sounds like you have been informed wrong.
