From what I understand, US HD is 60Hz, UK HD is 50Hz, PAL and NTSC aren't an issue anymore... And in fact 50Hz won't play on all HD equipment, whereas 60Hz stuff does. 60Hz is the worldwide standard, all players/tvs/blu-rays etc have 60hz support but not all support 50hz, I think all in the UK do. You may want to double check what happens if you want to burn to dvd as dvds are ntsc/pal still I think? But I don't think there is any real major US/UK compatibility issue anymore with the advent of HD... So long as it is the HD cam you go for.
As for the advantage of buying on american ebay, it's amazing it's way cheaper! I bought two blades for my ice hockey stick last year and got the 2 including postage and taxes brand new for about �35, it was �160 worth of product!
