We quit the sport earlier this year partly due to but other reasons too.
Reading this thread makes me glad. I once posted a message albeit cynical - about free tyres to the first 25 KF1 drivers who sign up. "First 25 KF1 drivers" - if you look at the last 2, 3 or more years then that class struggles to attract 20 let alone 25 so not much of a give away. At the time I made the point that not just because of the current climate, there will be a need to right-size the sport on the basis of too many classes, rising costs, people put off because of cheating proved or unproven, the domination by the larger teams etc.
so against that backdrop and now this - it seems to the naked eye that the organisers and marketing department in particular have missed an opportunity - particularly as FKS got bashed so much in 2009. Off the back of Hamilton and then Button - surely a deal could be struck with some major sponsors to avoid passing costs on to the paying punter? Or this is another bright idea not thought through.
If the "news" section is to be believed regarding "get your entires in quick as numbers are going fast" then interesting to see if numbers tail off or people go for a refund which presumably isn't an option. And just on the "get your entires in quick" apart from seeded drivers 1 to 15, the only benefit I can see of getting an entry in early is because the lower the number starting from 16 upwards - the more chance of being in the "elite" group when it comes to practice and therefore testing yourself against the so-called front-runners. Otherwise there is no perceived "advantage"
I will watch next season unfold with interest!
Good luck!
