You all must really get a grip, Super1 is the top of the sport in the UK and is optional, nobody has to race at S1 level and don’t forget you have to be a Club member to race in S1, so if you cannot afford the costs then take advantage of your Club membership and race there. You can always test yourself against the S1 competitors as invariably they will race in the club meetings of the Super1 tracks for practice prior to the S1 event there. From all that has been said about the costs for this year it would appear that the S1 management are aiming to attract sponsorship opportunities for the competitors with the announcement of a TV deal, so if you are able to get sponsorship as a result of this change then your costs will be reduced, if not then yes your costs will increase, but to be fair in S1 terms not by very much.
All of that said, the one that really sticks in my throat is the money I and all the other club racers are giving you £28,000 is paid to S1 from the ABkC ‘Tyre Contracts Tax’, personally I would rather have cheaper tyres and I suspect every other Club karter would to!
