Ask yourselves this question - if you were not racing in Super1 would you buy a camera for 235?
I'm just not interested, ok it can be fun to look at the footage and they are a useful driver training tool (if you can see the pedals etc).
I think it will make the racing a nightmare. Every single incident will be challenged by asking to have the camera footage displayed. Drivers will no longer need to be asked for their opinion on what happened - why bother, just play the video. No penalty of any sort will go unchallenged. Cameras will get broken, occasionally will not work (electronic equipment).
I already feel sorry for the officials who I suspect will still be at the track at 10pm every night trying to sort it all out.
Races results will be delayed, ammended results will abound and it will turn into a logistical mess. At that point they will have to stop using them to keep the meeting running.
I have no problem with purchasing one initially so long as the series is prepared to buy it back later when I no longer need it.
If onboard footage is used for the TV coverage I will be asking for a partial refund, as it has been marketed as 'driving standards improvement tool'.
Am I angry about this? You bet.
