"Have to 100% agree if Easy kart wasent a Birel tie up,and was a free choice of karts it would probably be the biggest class in karting.Back to basics nice and simple."
The trouble is Pete, if you open up the chassis makes then it stops being Easykart. Part of the appeal is the fact that it is a single chassis, single engine class with strict restrictions on the parts you can use - even the wheel rims are just one size for wets and slicks! At times it can be a bit frustrating - last year James was 3kg overweight and there was virtually nothing we could do about it (other than diet/exercise) as carbon fibre seats and floor trays are not allowed or other special lightweight components. Obviously it will not suit everyone but Birel must have got something right as they have easykart franchises in 15 countries and this year the karts have been selling before they even get to the UK and it looks as if total entries will be close to 200 which compares well to other national series.
