You are not restricted to a single engine builder although a lot of drivers do use ACR. You could do it yourself if you have the skill. The main restriction for the individual or an engine builder is that you can not buy lots of spares such as barrels and so it stops the `selective' engine concept. Some spares are more `Tonykart' prices than 3rd party suppliers but as there are so few bits to buy, this is not a big issue. From a mechanic's point of view the series could be quite dull as there is not a lot of adjustment available. The sprocket is fixed for each track (one size regardless of weather) so to a large extent it is wheels in or out, tyre pressures and ride height. As i say, it is not for everyone but we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the face that we had no red flags and no protests all year - any bumps just got sorted out in parc ferme with an apology and handshake.
