Shenington has probably the largest cadet grids in the country with 70 entries not uncommon so expect A, B and C finals. But don't let him dwell on that, just take it one race at a time.
You will probably only get 6 laps per practice session x 5 sessions so not a lot of time to learn the track.
For the hairpins he needs to brake late and very very hard. The Bruno Ferrari chicance which leads onto the back straight is critical. Brake early and keep a tight line turning left and then flat out through right hander onto straight.
The track can change a lot during the day grip wise but if dry I would keep pressures fairly high, say 30psi as heats tend to be quite short.
I don't know how experienced your lad is but A Finalists will all be within 1.25 seconds of the top pace which will be Stars level. B finalists will be 1.25 - 2.5 slower.
Considering time of year I would run 89-90T
Shenington is a great track but considering the distance you are travelling it would be better value lap wise to enter a race at PF from March or April onwards. You can practise on the Friday aswell when you get 20 mins every hour. With the Stars/S1 underway there will be one full grid only. It will still be very competitive but less daunting and at least double the track time.
Good luck.
