I recently sold off the last of my karting equipment, having raced mostly in ProKarts in the 90s. But meeting the people buying my stuff has re-ignited my desire to race. But having been away, I am unsure of a few things, and I can think of no better place to ask than UK Karting.
I am undecided on if to go MSA or not. If I do, will I have to start as a novice again? I haven't had a licence for about 8 years or so. If yes, what is involved now?
As I am now over 40, are there extra medical requirements? I remember someone had trouble finding out if he needed an ECG because of his age back when I raced.
What class would you suggest? I would prefer 4-stroke as 2-stroke always messed up my sinuses (allergic rhinitis).
Based on what I have read so far, I was considering a hire kart championship to test the waters before doing something more serious next season.
Preferably something in the Lincolnshire area, or a national / regional championship
I like the sound of the Sodi RX250 series as a starting point (http://www.rx250challenge.com/), but I emailed them before Xmas to find out where they would be racing this year, but never heard back.
Bilands sound good, but don't seem to race near here.
I've seen the Aixro XR50 in action at PF as another possibility, perhaps hiring one rather than having to invest in all the equipment again.
