To answer you query, the points for a race win are 50, then 48, 46, 44,43,42...
There are 2 points scoring finals of equal length at each meeting, though the only one shown on TV is the 2nd final, with the grid set by the 1st final finishing order.
In reality now, both races are given equal points and trophies so in terms of overall importance there is little to choose between them. The only theory you could give for covering the 2nd rather than the first from an entertainment perspective is that people may take more risks in the 2nd final, given that unlike the 1st final, a bad result wont push them down the grid fro the next race - so are more likely to make the do or die lunge.
Only 6 of the 14 scoring finals are shown through the year, and dropped scores factor in as well - so it's probably best to ignore the points and just enjoy the racing for a viewer
