It's simple..... test it!
1) Mark where you started so you can get back to that setting. 2) Loosen the bolts/clamps/whatever that hold the 'pill' (or whatever) in position and loosen the king pin so the 'pill' can be rotated freely 3) Remove your wheels (to lighten the assmbly). 4) Rapidly rotate the TOP 'pill' through 360 degrees and WATCH the top of the kingpin 5) Now do the same with the LOWER 'pill' and watch the BOTTOM of the kingpin
What you'll note is the change of angle of the Kingpin and you'll see what changes and how they are related. If you can see HOW it changes, you'll understand the effect of the changes on the stub axle. You'll also see why ANY change in the 'pill' MUST be followed by re-tracking!
Put simply... the usual arrangement is to have 4 possible 'settings' on each pill. Two of them will keep the caster angle the same while changing the camber and the OTHER two will keep the camber the same while changing the caster. Because you have TOP and BOTTOM pills, you can combine those changes to give you LARGER changes in either direction (but not both) or combining the changes where you can move the camber AND the caster...... but not as far as you can change ONE of them on it's own.
It's so hard to explain it but SO easy to WATCH it. Try it and it all becomes clear!
