My first post: "Do any of you guys use driving sims - either PC or PS3 etc? I think it's relevant for this thread, because when using a sim you can directly compare your own driving to the fastest drivers. It's easy to see where the fastest guys are gaining time, and what techniques they're using to achieve it. It's possible to monitor every steering input, or braking and throttle inputs. I know 'real life' is a different scenario, but the physics principles are the same (in a good sim)."
My second post: "If your "limited experience" does not include the use of a good wheel/pedal set with adjustable force-feedback, and proper racing seat with buttkicker, then I would agree with your toy comment. However, I'm not claiming that a sim can in any way replicate or replace the real-life experience, but it can demonstrate the benefit of minimal steering inputs and trail-braking, for example."
Where have I said that driving sims are the last word in realism?
My point isn't specifically about the technical do's and don'ts regarding trail braking. I merely suggested that a good driving sim MAY help to point towards areas where improvements MAY be gained by ATTEMPTING to emulate the techniques of a faster driver.
