In my opinion, the best to way find a good seating position is, when it's dry, put all your settings to the middle of their adjustment range (or standard settings), with the rear track at close to full width (1380mm for instance). Position the seat where it is most comfortable and run a significant number of laps.
Try to get a good basic balance by simply altering front track width. Observe tyre wear and pressures. If you can't get a good balance pretty quickly, put the settings back to middle/standard and move the seat to suit the predominant handling condition.
Whilst doing this, always bear in mind the current circuit conditions and how you may have to alter the kart in the future. The aim is to end up with a well balanced kart that still leaves you plenty of setup options in the future.
