My apologies, it's obviously a far more complicated question than I appreciated! The DDMs were 2nd hand from a gearbox but I'm using them on a Swissauto 250cc 35hp 4 stroke on short circuits (mainly Buckmore, Bayford and Lydd but possibly also Ellough, Clay and Whilton). The previous owner of the kart found the DDMs worked well and hence that's my starting point. With regard to cost and lifespan, obviously cheap and long lasting is ideal but I'm not stupid enough to think that such a tyre exists. If I can source a second hand supply of tyres that will still be worth using then I don't mind if they don't last too long. I suppose in a perfect world I'd be paying 25 a meeting for 2nd hand tyres but if paying 125 a meeting is going to make a big difference then I need to consider that because like everybody else, I'm out there to win. A tyre that maintains it's consistancy from new until bald would be good rather than something I have to throw away with loads of rubber left on them just because they've been through a few heat cycles.
