Hi Zetec
Yes..... some of the parts will transfer from the old chassis to a potential newer one. But..... those last few components which won't will be the problem. How is he going to race without, for example, a steering column, stub axles, bumpers etc......?
Arolling chassis will not cost you a lot of money if you buy wisely. DO NOT buy something very new, jusyt get something towards the end of it's 'homolgation' simply becasue he WILL be having 'incidents' when he moves up to racing. If you spend extra for a very new one, he will not be good enough in his first year to FEEL those benefits and will have BASHED the last ounce of speed out of it (from the 'incidents') by the time he can use it!
So, buy something clean but old.... but 'legal'..... you may even get a pile of spares at the same time. You can then sell that chassis to somneone like yourself in 1 year's time when he may be able to benefit from the 'latest' chassis..... or it's time to move up to the next class.
