Go and watch the 'data' from videos of the 'greats'.
None of us would deny that too much grip at one END (or side) COULD be a problem. However, we have to define 'too much'..... compared to what? If we only mean when 'compared to the other end' then YES, you CAN have too much grip at one END...... but not against something empirical at BOTH ends.
Here's the test of that statement.... please answer it:-
"I am a magician/tyre-chemist. I can supply you with LEGAL tyres that deliver twice the grip of your standard tyres. I can supply them to you or your main competitor for the Championship decider round.... but I've not got enough to supply BOTH of you. Unfortunately, you've both been telling me you ALREADY have 'too much grip' (as if....).....! So... you won't object if I ONLY supply your competitor..... will you...? After all, I'll only be making their 'too much grip' problem WORSE....? Won't I?"
You'll be the first EVER in the history of karting to turn down grippier tyres if you refuse them!
So.... where did 'too much grip' just go.....?
