Ride height is NOT just about scratching your paint......
The higher the chassis, the more the effect of 'roll' is in the corners and that often translates to higher grip levels. The reason is that the 'lean over' effect increases the higher you go and that puts more pressure onto the outer tyre..... but reduces it on the inner tyres.
Yes, making it ride higher will protect the chassis (more)......but not HALF as much as staying off the kerbs altogether will do....
Higher ride MAY 'improve' the chassis, or it may make it worse..... that depends on many things, including your height and weight. We cannot know that so it's just another of the adjustments you should try to see how it alters the kart.
As I said, it's not JUST to protect your paint!
