"Is there a perfect solution on a sensible budget?" - NO - but lots of options and it is a case of finding one that suits ypou and the family. At most tracks you will find a wide range of solutions from people camping through to luxury american RVs (sometimes towing a trailer or car). The RS motorhomes are great with big garages and good living space (especially with a pop-out) but they are expensive. probably if you only used it once a month, the depreciation would be more than the cost of hotels. In between these two extremes you rally have the choice between a motorhome - larger one with a garage or smaller and tow a trailer or a van to carry the karting gear and tow a caravan. You can get some good long wheelbase van conversions that will take the kart gear in the back and have some living space inside. You would all be able to travel in this and should expect to have a table with bench seats for 4 people (converts to a double bed) a cooker and sink, maybe a double bed over the garage area and a toilet/shower room. The van plus caravan option gives you good space, you can pop the kart in the van overnight for extra security and it is easier to get to the shops if you have forgotten something - taking a 40` american RV into the Tesco car park is not always easy! One downside to this is that you have insurance costs for the van and caravan so it can be more expensive that the motorhome option. Your best option is to have a look around at tracks you visit and be a bit cheeky. Karters are mostly a friendly bunch and will let you look inside their vans etc so you can get a better idea of what will suit your needs.
