The thing this site needs is regular maintenance. SQL server isnt rocket science, as long as you allow enough space, clean up the queries etc regularly (they provide analysis software)and generally follow the tuning guidelines it should run without the timeouts we oft see here. Unfortunately its got into such a state now that they've had to resort to deleting old data - so all those old ITPRO gems from way back have now gone - if you dont believe me try a search.

Porting the board over to new software isnt the work of a minute, but if they dont want this place to die then it needs to be addressed. Karting1 and Ten-tenths for instance have far superior BB software and thus brings in more advertisers, making more money for the site owners.

Oh and ignore Brian, hes a renowned luddite.
