Have to say I totally agree with Banzai Boys post, we have far too much health and safety as it is!
Theres a video on youtube from Clay Pigeon in around 1989, karts with no pods, Direct Drive, very fast, exposed wheels, and some of the cleanest and most fierce racing your ever likely to see. Compare that to some of the videos from Snr Rotax at MBKC that are posted on here and its a completely different world, with every single heat involving some sort of 1st corner pileup, never mind the disgusting defensive driving by half the field.
We've all gone backwards. I dont think theres a single type of Motorsport that hasnt had detrimental effects from safety being increased. Thats not to say i'd like to see drivers once again being killed, but you cant deny driving standards take a nose dive every time safety is increased. I'm another example where the biggest accident I ever had was on corporate karts with wrap around bumpers.
