In reply to your post about people "whining" over the cost of tyre spikes:
Many of us do not have Iridium visors Or helmet paint jobs Or helmet spoliers
I for one have never had any of this, simply because I'd rather race a plain piece of kit, rather than not afford to race at all - please don't generalise and accuse people who want to compete at S1 on a tight budget of being overly frivolous.
The gripe some have with tyre spikes is that they are �48 extra and have only seemingly been announced long after people registered for the series (having already committed a huge sum of money) - �48 may not sound like a lot but if you only had �20 spare budget anyway, it's very annoying to get slapped with...
And to those who would read this and say that those struggling to afford to compete at S1 shouldn't try - remember that the costs of competing in the series have escalated considerably since the end of 2008 - there will always be those spending a lot more, that's inevitable, the problem is that the basic costs have now priced many out of even entering, giving them no chance to compete at all
