At 42kgs you are probably too heavy to get good value for money from cadet racing,I assume you have tried indoor or corporate karts; enjoyed it hence you want to move on.
If you buy a cadet Comer or Honda it will take you and your lad at least 6 months to get to grip with it if things if fall into place really quickly and if not it may take up to 18 months. From experience most kids seem to gain 3 to 5 kgs per year so by the time you get in the swing of things you will be pushing 45kgs which is a perfect weight for juniors but at that the upmost limit for cadets.
If you start in juniors you can invest in equipment that will last 5 or 6 years , if you opt for cadet you will have to swap kit and re-learn everything you have picked up in 18 months when you then make the change to juniors.
At the moment if you are considering juniors I would give Tkm a good look, it is more cost effective and normally much better supported at Shenny and Whilton. If you want to sit your lad in a junior kart, come and find us at Shenny and you are welcome to jump in and see how he fits. We have a number of other juniors racing with us so I am sure you can try something that you will fit.
We are in pit bay C24 at Shenny, Jnr Tkm no 90.
Good luck,
Matthew
