Sorry guys. I didn't realise that this would stir things up so much. Just to confirm that my comments are purely my own opinion and have no association with any kart club.
It's probably a good thing that I am now retiring from all aspects of the "sport".
With the numbers of competitors reducing, especially in MSA Karting, I just feel that adding extra cost will make the situation more dependant upon wallet rather than talent.
My view on the following comment by richydehav: "Do we need smooth tarmac drives; fully concreted paddocks; a bar; enclosed viewing area; choice of cafe with ample seating; excellent toilet blocks and showers; power supply to part of the paddock etc?"
1. smooth tarmac drives Nice to have, but not essential, except for those with 4x4s who don't want to get their "Chelsea Tractors" dirty. 2. fully concreted paddocks Nice to have, but not essential, except for those who don't want to get their designer footwear dirty. 3. a bar Not a good idea really. Drink and drive comes to mind. 4. choice of cafe with ample seating I've eaten the food there once. Never again. Gordon Ramsey needs an invite. (Personal opinion by the way). 5. excellent toilet blocks and showers Agreed! However, check the state of them halfway through a busy meeting. Remove the 'excellent'. 6. power supply to part of the paddock etc? Now that is a really good facility. I can't knock it in any way. I just wonder how many competitors, who work out of the back of a van / car, with basic equipment will be able to make use of it.
There will be one more rant (new thread) and then I will sign off (hopefully) forever.
Sorry, once again, for causing a little bit of hassle. It was not really intended.
