Spice, how much of this is just paddock bull***t?
The restrictors were available a couple of days ago but there is talk of them making the engines 2 seconds slower. Who has had time to test their engines with/without the restrictor and then play with the carb etc to see exactly what the engine will do with the restrictor.
The Iame has been out for about a month. Most of the drivers planning to enter the British championship next year probably got them quickly (as would the main teams). Did they then do back-to-back testing and was it these more experienced drivers were going quicker than less experienced drivers on their comers?
Anyone who is fairly new to karting may have found the changes a surprise. For those who have been around a bit longer there has been plenty of warning that the Iame was supposed to be slower than the current comer and that all other cadets would be restricted in some way to make them slower than the Iame (or other engine selected). probably a couple of years warning of the changes.
