Hi
I have just bought the jet-tech s/w to help and take the hassle out of selecting the correct jetting for my son's junior rotax.
There is some initial setup to do to find the correct jetting before the s/w will work.
We were at the track today TRYING to establish the best jet for the conditions. However, its not that easy, we tried 3 or 4 different jets and my son said he didn't really notice that much difference between them. However he did think that one of them 'felt' smoother and quicker but this was the slowest jet of the day!!
In the jet-tech s/w it recommends checking the spark plug, crown and exhaust header. I don't fancy taking the exhaust off everytime I've changed the jet, plus I have no idea what colour it is meant to be. So that leaves the crown and spark plug. I took the plug out and shone a torch down the small hole to inspect the crown, I couldn't see a thing! So that leaves the spark plug, I got my son to pull into a lane off the track and stop immediately so I could check the colour, I didn't notice any difference in the spark plug with three different jets!! I know the ideal condition for the spark plug is dry and black, but the top of the thread was black but the actual 'arm' was a mustardy/beige? colour.
Could somebody explain what colour the spark plug should be or ideally link to some images or even upload a pic - its easier than explaining - would realy appreciate. Thanks.
