"If it is basically just setting the jetting to the one that gives you the quickest laptimes why does John go into some detail about checking spark plug, exhaust header and crown when talking about establishing the correct jetting. Not once does it mention about the quickest laptime - if it did it would have saved me a lot of messing about yesterday and I would have just gone with the jetting that gave us the fastest laptime but the instructions do not elude to that - I'm very confused!"
The reason I do not simply say go with the quickest laptime is because it is very important when finding the correct mainjet for the weather conditions that you are just on the rich side of optimum and then having found the correct mainjet you next push for maximum performance by adjusting the needle clip position.
Setting up the software is a two step process
1. Find the correct mainjet 2. Find the correct needle clip position
It must always be done in that order and must always be approached from the rich side on the day you optimise your software.
