Richy - the first thing I did after being told about this supposed new carb was check the abkc newsletter/site and found no such thing so I then asked around and noone had heard of anything. I bought an iame engine on instinct and if I'm totally honest, I like the motor but I haven't got to grips with the carb yet due to not having had sufficient track time and from my experience both of our carbs are sensitive to adjustment. We've used the software with mixed results so I've resorted to taking the finger plate off and glued some washers in the screw slots and we're going to spend a day at clay getting him used to adjusting them. This does hand an advantage to the teams since their data acquisition is much more efficient than ours so in this case the seal on the engine makes no difference. A fixed jet float bowl carb would have seemed the logical choice if the intention was to stop youngsters from adjusting carbs on circuit - having this carb has merely made things more difficult. I watched the iame challenge at clay and there was nothing between the engines of the teams and those of the dad and lad teams on my stopwatch on Saturday or the official results but some of the slower dad and lad motors didn't sound right.
