Nik....
The tyres on new karts are no more sticky than the bizarre qualifiers used by the likes of Terry Fullerton (et al) at (for example) the European's run at Rye house WAY back in the late 1970s. I would contend that, actually, they were VASTLY more sticky. I have the photographic evidence that Terry (et al) were using EXACTLY the technique I describe, way back then. If you weren't there, these things were so vicious that the hubs were mounted almost off the end of the axles to prevent turning over, and were not 'unwrapped' (to prevent oxidation) until the kart was about to be push started. They we SO sticky that Harm Schurman managed to get the kart onto two wheels in the middle of Stadium at Rye simply because of the excess grip. He never got NEAR a kerb!
Secondly, it's hardly a sea-change from Green TKM tyres to Red Ones.......
Thirdly, 'release is when the inner wheel returns to the ground.....'....... errrrr..... how do you explain the physics of that...? You 'release' grip when the second tyres (which IS the cause of 'drag') RETURNS to the ground...... I am looking forward to that one....
If you are correct, that release occurs at that moment, then you appear to have accidentally agreed that karts take corners 'best' if their rear wheel are at an (approximate) tangent to the corner AND, you must have unloaded the steering to allow the Caster to return the rear wheel to the ground! If not please explain you the drag REDUCES when the 4th wheel touches the track WHILE you still have lock applied......
As you know, I hold your views in high regard but, this time, I think you are wrong.
