I am also in a similar position to Jupum, my son has decided he last lost his enthusiasm for karting because the disappointments seem to outweigh the joys of karting in the last few months so he wants to call it a day. We have had a successful year and won two club championships but it is true that in the last three months it feels like a victory to get through a race let alone a meeting without getting wiped out from behind by someone, I am fed up with hearing I cant believe your luck .
I had plenty of other hobbies before getting back into karting 5 years ago so it;s not that daunting however we have some great friends from karting and live really close so it will be hard to go and watch and not be part of it. At the moment we have said we will do what he wants but we should wait to sell the kit until spring in case he has a change of heart once he has been to watch in the New Year a few times.
Everyone we have told are shocked by his decision and he has had some lovely feedback from drivers and parents but I can understand why he might feel the way he does at the moment. The overriding problem is bad luck but it is not helped by the ridiculous levels of inconsistency from officials who stand up at the beginning of the day and say one thing and then bottle out of the big decisions however seem to hit people hard for minor things.
If we do decide to continue we will need to be more resilient and pray from better luck .
