Round 1 at Shenny the basics were; you get five minutes from when the grid gate opens until when the flag goes down, you got 3 or 4 flying laps once you had crossed the line on lap one, with brand new un-scrubbed slicks not much time to get the tyres to work and hook up one clear lap.
For those in TKM if there is a full grid I would estimate it takes about 45 seconds from gate opening to get everyone safely away so even less laps if you choose to go at the back.
We did not qualify where we would have expected based on our general running at that track,I think we significantly underestimated how high to go on pressures in a very short session, I guess you will need to go unusually high on pressures to get the kart to work on lap 2/3 and hope you can hook up a good clear lap otherwise the pressures maybe beyond their normal operating window .
I get why shortening the session stops the after you games however if you got 8-10 mins and the entire grid must exist at once and the gates close immediately you would give a more sensible time and number of laps. I guess somewhere like PFI where one lap is circa 1 minute you will get maybe 2 flying laps, will that really work. As pointed out before we had plenty of time on both days so why save 25 minutes for the sake of it.
