diy71, are you saying that car racing uses the new rule but karting uses the old rule, which is no longer published? So we should all be using the 2014 blue book, but keep an old version to hand so you know what the track limits are? I doubt that's the case but all this does is highlight the need for a clear rule for (MSA) karting, since nobody seems to know what it is.
I actually think the rule is clear, it's in the current blue book, section U refers to section Q and that statement from the ABkC/MSA is a red herring. The karting specific rule in secftion U cannot possibly be used in isolation as it's massively open to interpretation.
Biland Racer has also told us that clerks across the country are using the new rule, which confirms my suspicion.
Simon, your points are all sensible but currently people drive on kerbs, run-offs, rumble strips and even the dirt beyond the kerbs, all without punishment. Therefore I agree a clear definition of what is a kerb is valuable but until we have a rule on what we can use the whole thing is pointless.
