From a karter on karting1
--------------------------------------------------
Hello Nigel.
i hope all went well in Italy. i'm still progressing very well and working away at them lap times.
can i ask you a frank question in your capacity as the chairman of Karting for the MSA.
There seems to be hell of a lot of racers who bitterly complain that the MSA is only concerned with the top national element of karting and have no interest in the club level racer, to support this idea they will often reference the high cost and short life of the tyres being used and say it is only realistic if you have a lot of money or are racing on a national or international level to have new tyres each round.
They ask the question as to why the MSA does not have a budget class which caters for the club level racer ?
Whats your take on this situation ? im sure its ones you will have heard a few times now.
Cheers Colin.

Hi Colin,
Well you will be pleased to hear it is high on the agenda (mine for sure and now the MSA)
Recent meetings and feedback from non renewing licence holders and new licences holders support your comments.
To this end I will be working hard to steer the MSA down the road of providing MSA Kart Clubs with a 'toolbox' to allow them to organise owner driver racing. The outline is to have a 'Day Licence' - Scrutineer checks equipment (which maybe pre homologated gear but is safe), The Senior Clerk monitors the drivers ability on Saturday practice day, and if all is well the guy can race on Sunday - easy, cheap, and pretty much with any decent kart/engine. The grouping will then be like a Libre race with groups for Cadet/Junior/Senior. This type of Clubmans Race would only be valid on that day at that club - as soon as the driver wants to move around the country then he has to go with the full blown MSA Licence etc. We would also be looking to cut down on the judicial cycle (ie the Senior Clerk makes THE decsion - no appeal) and also on a relaxation of the regulations.
This is a major objective that I will be pushing the MSA for - hoping for 2016 at latest but will do my damdest for 2015.......the clubs need help NOW !!
I hope this gives you something positive to to work with and more than happy for you to spread the word,
Best wishes
