blimey. amazing detail on kart axle bearing lubrication. note to self;"must get a life"(!)
so re "viscosity being the most important element" etc, how do we reconcile the situation where for std road cars right up til the 80's, everyone used 20w/50. now, for ostensibly the same engines, mineral (not synthetic) 10w/30's are fashionable.and a shell bearing is surely far more sensitive to appropriate lubrication than a roller (?) additionally, after years of using "R" at 16:1 in my 100 Nationals/Britains, coming back to Rotax in '96, i couldn't BELIEVE i was using a synthetic at 50:1. seemed suvh a TINY measure of oil and yes, the thing seized second time out..........my mechanic of 30 years was shocked at how "dry" the mains were on strip down and that there's nothing like "R" for bottom end lubrication.
do you concur?
