Our old 09 Exprit cracked just in front of the bearing carrier on the engine side. The chassis had run in a huge amount of races though. We did tend to run with the engine stop backed off so you could see daylight between the stop and the engine mount. The carrier is only welded to the chassis along the side of the mount / chassis tube and not in front where it cracked. We ran a small fillet weld over this area and all was well. He broke a lap record and won a club championship inc. the NKF round with it like this, so not too much to worry about, apart from it does de value the chassis. I know someone else whom had done a lot of work on an Alonso and won with it many time with a cracked chassis in the same place but on the brake side. The team he was running with used a track rod and track rod ends as a tidy strut from the bearing carrier fixing points to the spare radiator mounting tab. It looked quite tidy and seemed to work! Another place to look out for is just behind and underneath the front yokes. They go if kerbing a lot, I know of a few that have gone inc. the 2012 kosmic we got after the trusty 09 exprit! But I also know of NON OTK chassis going here too.
